Electrical faults are where guesswork gets expensive. We trace circuits with a meter and a wiring diagram rather than replacing modules and hoping, which is usually the difference between a two hour bill and a two thousand dollar one.
Intermittent electrical faults have a reputation for being unfixable, and that reputation mostly comes from shops that replace components instead of testing circuits. Corrosion at a ground strap, a chafed harness behind a frame rail, or a connector that has been packed with road salt from a Maryland winter will produce symptoms that look like a failed module. We work from the wiring diagram for your specific chassis, test voltage drop across the circuit, and find the actual break before anything gets ordered.
Our technicians work with digital multimeters, current clamps, power probes and manufacturer wiring documentation. Module programming is handled on the manufacturer software, so a replacement ECM leaves configured for your engine, not generic. Most electrical diagnosis can be done mobile, which is helpful because these faults often refuse to appear once the truck is towed.

Intermittent faults need conditions. We wiggle test harnesses, load circuits and, where necessary, run the truck to reproduce the symptom before diagnosing it.
We pull the wiring diagram for your exact chassis and model year, then test the circuit at defined points instead of working backwards from a guess.
A circuit can show continuity and still fail under load. We measure voltage drop with the circuit loaded, which is how corroded grounds and partial breaks get found.
Repairs are soldered or crimped with the correct terminal, sealed and protected in loom, and routed away from heat and chafe points. A repair that looks tidy tends to stay fixed.
We retest with the circuit under load and, where the fault was intermittent, road test before releasing the truck.

That is almost always water finding a corroded pin in the seven way connector or a chafed spot in the harness. Water bridges the circuit or shorts it, then dries and the fault disappears. We test the connector under load and inspect the harness at the usual chafe points.
If the batteries test good, it is usually a parasitic draw or a charging fault. We measure the draw with everything shut down and pull fuses systematically to isolate the circuit that is not going to sleep.
Yes, on the platforms we hold software for. A replacement module needs the correct configuration for your engine and chassis, and skipping that step is why some module swaps do not fix the problem.
We repair where the damage is localised, which is most of the time and far cheaper. Full replacement is for harnesses with multiple failures or extensive corrosion, where a repair would just move the problem.
